My Hectic Life
Dear readers,
I have had a very hectic life lately. Between more hours at work, volunteering for the up-coming Vancouver International Film Festival, and seeing some of the pre-festival screenings for the media, I haven't had time for much else.
I have a backlog of posts to do here on my blog and hope to fit them in soon. However, not only is the film festival October 1-16th but we have just added a new addition to our family. A bouncing baby boy.
Meet D. J. His name is really Don Juan but we think that is a silly name for a Shetland Sheep Dog. He is 10 months old and shares my same birthday, November 9th.
The woman that had him originally bought him to breed but he has a problem with his mouth alignment which is hereditary. She place him in a home where he developed some issues so she had to take him back.
Bill and I had planned to find a dog after the film festival but D.J. needed a home now.
He really is a good boy but just has a few things to deal with that Bill and I are better able to help him through with since we have experience with rescues.
The day we got him was a beautiful day for a drive, which was good since we had to drive 4 hours to Cache Creek, BC to get him. We stopped on our way home to take the photos below.
I want to apologise to all of you whose blogs I follow. My google reader has been showing 1000+ for days. I think I am going to have to clear them and start over with your new posts. There is no way I will ever be able to read what I am guessing is over 2000 posts.
After the film festival and the readers and writers festival, I will be visiting my mom in Minneapolis, MN November 7-14th. After that I hope to become a more regular commenter on your blogs again.

Adoption Notice: It's a Girl
Bill and I now have the pitter-patter of little feet once again. It has been too quite here without Robbie and Tina. We came to the decision that it was time to open our hearts up to someone else in need of a stable home and parents.
This is Amanda, in Latin her name means "worthy of love". That name describes her very well! She is such a sweet girl! We just have to get her to not chew through our computer headphones. LOL! Thank goodness she doesn't seem to enjoy electrical cords, or it could be shocking. (Pardon the pun!)
I swore that I wouldn't get another black cat, because Tina was black. Of course I got one look and Amanda and I melted.
Amanda is a Manx and therefore only has a little stub of a tail. Isn't she cute? I'm not prejudice at all, not me. LOL! She is about 1 year old. I was reading up on the breed and found out that Manx aren't fully matured until about 5 years. She loves to play and nap. She follows my husband and I around the house a lot. She is a very social girl.

Six + Seven Random Things about Me
1. I hate to clean, but I love a clean house.
3. My husband and I have a CD music collection of over 700. We love music and have similar tastes.
4. I find any kind of shopping a chore, except for yarn shopping. I love to knit with good yarn.
5. I watch very little TV. I see it as cutting into my reading time.
6. Before we had Robbie, we had Hoochie and I still miss her too.
Hoochie

In Memory of Robbie ?-June 2008
It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of my precious baby boy Robbie.
On Tuesday afternoon, we went for our usual walk and then I gave him an early dinner. I left and met up with my husband, Bill to go for dinner. Robbie seemed fine then. When we arrived home, he didn’t fly down the stairs to greet us, very unusual. I had to help him down stairs and went to take him for his bedtime walk. We got outside, he went pee pee and then he turned around and wanted to go right back in the house, very unusual. Then he collapsed at the bottom of the stairs.
Meanwhile, Robbie was doing better, at least temporarily. The vet sent him home Thursday night with an armload of medications. The vet said that sometimes, with the medications, they will rebound for awhile and that he wasn’t suffering. Before we picked him up, I made him and Bill strawberry shortcake, their favorite. We enjoyed some together that evening. I stayed at home Friday to be with him and care for him.
Since there was no warning, we were so glad to have him back home, no matter how short a time. However, he really kept me busy Friday. He couldn't keep any food down and he couldn't control his bladder. I was constantly cleaning the carpet and reassuring him that it wasn't his fault. He kept giving me that guilty look. (Funny, Thursday night he kept down his strawberry shortcake).
We realize how blessed we were to have him as long as we did, but still feel robbed of time with him. I know that’s greedy. I also know that no matter how many years we would have had with him it wouldn’t have been enough.
We love you Robbie! Daddy and I will especially miss your greetings when we get home, your assistance in keeping the kitchen floor clean, your smile, and cuddles!
Love,
Mom and Dad

Goodbye to My Precious Furbaby Tina

Last night I had to say a sorrowful goodbye to my furbaby girl, Tina. She was very sick and my husband and I took her to the vet. There was nothing non-invasive they could do for her. Since she was almost 19year old and frail, I didn’t think it was fair to her to have the vet do anything invasive. She went peacefully in my arms as the injection went in.
Tina has been with me through good times and bad. She came into my life when I needed her most! She will be greatly missed.
I love you Tina! You will always be with me, in my heart!
Love,
Mommy
