The Great Book of Socks is packed full of ideas for knitting socks.  It is a how to book but would be best for the advanced beginner or higher. It has all kinds of patterns for textured socks, lacy socks, decorated socks, and even tube socks.

With 75 different socks listed in this fun book, there is something for everyone.

Dewey's Knit-a-Long Update

I Joined the knit-a-long back in January and would like to share my progress to those of you who are interested.
I completed a UFO (unfinished) sweater. I had all the parts to it knit but never sewed it together. Here it is:
Front:

The directions say to embroider a French knot for Mr. Polor Bear's eye and nose. I'm not convinced that I should. What do you think?

Back:

I tried the sweater on and came to the realization that sweater was designed with women with a smaller bustline than I. LOL! Um, I look like Dolly Parton in it.

I also started the shawl that I pledged to make for a friend of a friend. I am half way done. See it here:

It currently measures 31 inches. The pattern said it should measure 60 inches and then add long fringe at both ends. The person I am making it for is quite short and wants it to be 50 inches and then fringe. I am going to insist we meet up when it measures 50 inches to do a fitting and make sure before I fringe it. I think it may look funny without the other 10 inches.

Dewey's Knit-a-long

Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn’t hurt the untroubled spirit, either. ~Elizabeth Zimmerman

I just joined Dewey's Knit-a-long as part of the Dewey Reading Challenge. I'm not actually doing the reading challenge and was looking for another way to honour Dewey.

I am going to be knitting a shawl for a friend of a friend. We met for coffee a couple of times and I, as always, took out my knitting. She fell in love with the stuff I was working on. I offered to teach her to knit and she declined. I know that she can't afford the yarn and I love to knitt for others.

I will give updates on my progress.

Do you knit or crochet or do some other craft. Come join in the fun! Sign up here.
