About Liza Gyllenhaal:

If there is an author who knows that the path to what matters is not always a straight and easy one, it’s Liza Gyllenhaal. A graduate of the University of Iowa Writing Workshop , she spent many years in publishing and advertising, founding her own advertising agency, building it into a highly successful business, and then selling it a few years back to devote herself to her first love: writing.

Now her second novel is set against the background of a close-knit town in upstate New York that is reeling from the current recession, Liza Gyllenhaal’s SO NEAR is an exploration of the dynamics of family and friendship, longing and passion, loss and redemption.

Liza Gyllenhaal is a published poet, and former chairperson and current board member of The Academy of American Poets, which sponsors National Poetry Month. She and her husband divide their time between New York City and the Berkshires.
