“I was homebound while writing my novel, and I needed a place for the characters to meet, but I wasn’t familiar with the region,” Young said. “I looked up landmarks and discovered The Kinzua Bridge.”

Young, a psychologist and renowned Internet addiction specialist, likens her story to a modern- day Bridges of Madison County, and admits there are many similarities between herself and the story’s protagonist.

“Like Nicole, I relocated to Pennsylvania to take care of my dying father,” Young said. “Nicole’s fictitious profession is similar to my day job as well, so the beginning of the novel is very true to my own life story.”

With significant connections to Young’s personal and professional lives, and with historical significance to the Pennsylvania region, The Eighth Wonder portrays a delicate balance of romance and a life-changing affair that leads to a bittersweet ending.

About Kimberly Young:

Kimberly Young is a licensed psychologist, author and speaker on Internet addiction. Since 1995, she travels nationally speaking on the impact the Internet has on individuals and families.

She has written numerous articles on Internet addiction, including three recovery books: Caught in the Net, Tangled in the Web and Breaking Free of the Web: Catholics and Internet Addiction.

She is a professor at St. Bonaventure University, where she has received awards for her research. She has written creatively since she was eight years old, mainly working on poems and short stories. During her five month recovery from retina attachment eye surgery, she decided to pursue her creative writing more seriously. The Eighth Wonder is Young’s first novel.
