Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

Choosing a book for the letter "G" was a no brainier for me. It had to be Gone With the Wind! This was the first book that made me realize how much I love historical fiction. It has just about something for everyone in it, action, war, romance, etc.
I saw the movie many, many times but it wasn't until I was in my classics book club that I decided to read the book. We had a member in the club that loved everything about Gone With the Wind and she convinced me.
I totally agree - GWTW the movie is just as good as the book. I love both!

Gone with the Wind is one of my favorite movies and books of all time. I have been collecting GWTW memorabilia since I was about ten. I had the movie memorized at about 6...what can I say...I'm a southern girl! I think it's time I did a re-read though..it's been awhile....thanks for reminding me of what a great book it is! Did you ever read "Rhett Butler's People"? I really enjoyed it as well...here is my review from a few years ago!

You know I have never read it. I have always wanted to... but just have never got around to it. On my list to do!

I have never read this book, but I remember not LOVING the movie. I was young, though, so maybe I should try again. I do want to read this book, and also The Wind Done Gone.

Kathy, It so rare to love a movie and book just as much. GWTW is so easy to love. I watch the movie at least once a year.
Courtney, I liked Rhett Butler's People but didn't love it. I also read Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley. It was also okay but not great. Thanks for the link to your review, I see you enjoyed it much more than I did. Here's my short review: http://teddyrose.blogspot.com/2007/12/rhett-butlers-people.html
Sheila, Your in for a treat when you do finally read it.
Aarti, if you don't like the movie, I really doubt you would enjoy the book. My advise is to try the movie again, if you still don't like it, skip the book. At well over 1000 pages it wouldn't be worth it for you if you don't care for the story.

Cool how GWTW turned you on to historical fiction!

Peter, I was reading historical fiction before GWTW but I think it is the book that really made me fall in love with it.

I have read this book a couple of times and really enjoy it each time! I was surprised last time I read it at how different the movie really is from the book!

I couldn't agree more. Gone with the Wind is truly a treat! I loved the book AND the movie. I will definitely re-read the book one of these days!

Kathleen, I would love to re-read it some day. It's so hard to fit in re-reads, because there are so many books I want to read for the first time.
